What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is a holistic, drug-free, non-invasive, hands-on therapy that diagnoses and treats: muscle, joint, spine, and nervous system issues that affect the body's movement. It is commonly used to treat back pain, neck discomfort, and postural strain, but considers the body as a whole.

How are Chiropractic Care and Osteopathy Different?

  • Although osteopathy and chiropractic care were both invented in the late 1800's and operate under similar principles, their primary techniques developed in slightly different ways.

  • Chiropractors perform comprehensive assessments, and frequently use 'manual manipulations' to treat the spine and joints, which is characterized by high-velocity, low-amplitude thrusts that release tension in the joints to create motion. While chiropractors also use soft tissue, stretching, and active release techniques, patients may find the overall treatment to be more energetic in nature.

  • Osteopathic manual practitioners perform comprehensive assessments, and frequently use 'joint mobilizations' to treat the spine and joints, characterized by deeper and sustained pressures that open up joint spaces to relieve tension. osteopathic manual practitioners also use: stretching, soft tissue, cranial, and visceral techniques, patients may find the overall treatment to be more relaxing in nature.
